They will also be challenged in a physical setting as well. This part of adventure mostly concerns SCUBA diving.
There is an opportunity to take a four day dive certification course and receive a PADI dive certification. This
a fully certified dive course that consists of dives to practice and time in the class room learning about
decompression times for longer dives and that sort of thing.
Beyond diving there is some hiking and camping. Our
guide Eti Sapolu will bring us up to a volcanic crater lake where we will camp under the stars and cook on an open
fire. To relax after hiking there may be a yoga class or two taught by local yoga instructors.
This intermixing of interests and experiences gives high school students to see the world as it connects in different
ways. It allows them to see that everything is not compartmentalized as it is in the classrooms of the United States.
This exposure to diversity is what will benefit high school students that like teen adventure travel.
It is entirely up to the individual participant to ensure they
are awarded credit for their efforts from whichever teen adventure travel educational institution they attend.
The possibilities of what to study on a teen adventure travel trip are limitless. So are they types of studying
that are going on. The travel is not solely to one particular place on Western Samoa. There are many places
that the participants visit. They are moving from place to place on a regular basis so they are exposed to a
variety of ways of living in Western Samoa.
There are many teen adventure travel programs with artisans who are happy to share their knowledge
and allow participants to study with them.
A trip with is an ideal outlet for independent study. It could easily earn credit if the
criteria set forth is followed. This teen adventure travel includes writing a twenty page paper before departure about Samoa or an
aspect of Samoa, keeping a daily journal, recording five interviews with native Samoans by tape recording,
filming or writing, a complete corpus or artistic work completed during the trip, and a five page paper written
upon return from teen adventure travel about what the participant learned.
